October

I am way behind but determined to get caught up!

October started with the boys talking me into buying a haunted ginger bread house for them to do. They made a mess and had fun and then ate it within the first 48 hours of October. Huh.

Nate made a few hunting trips and finally settled on the smallest spike he could find.

The last few years Spencer has competed in a kids duathlon, well because of COVID they didn't do it this year and instead did a "build a city" event. He won his age group and got some tickets to the rollerdrome, dinner coupons, and an award!

a little help on his project

We also went to the pumpkin patch with the activity days boys from our ward. The kids got to each pick a pumpkin and do the other activities, like the straw maze, climbing the hay bales and feeding the animals.

Nate and I celebrated 8 years of marriage, the time has flown by, but also feels like we've always been together, strange how that happens.

With the library and EVERYTHING shut down we spent a lot of time together inside. The library was working hard to come up with kits/activities you could pick up and take home to do together that were appropriate for a span of ages and also educational. This one was on digestion and they got goldfish crackers and soda to learn with, that was a huge hit!

Spencer played fall soccer. He loves the social aspect of all sports but actually made some great improvements as a player! Plus dad bribes him with a milkshake for any goal he scores...

#4

We celebrated Halloween a handful of times by wearing costumes to school, walking Harrison Boulevard with the Dille's to check out all the fun decorations there, trick or treating at the rec center and at the ward trunk or treat, AND THEN we even took them REAL trick or treating around the neighborhoods close by!

Garrett at 18 months taught himself to ride a scooter, he got really good at the wiggle bikes, and even started using the strider bike, he keeps up with the big kids no problem!

Breda and I also spent a day with our boys at another pumpkin patch where the highlight was watching a trick dog show! But we did the barrel train, walked through the creepy monster belly, and Gar loved the giants bouncy mounds and just let the big kids flop him all over. It was hilarious!

And a few more silly pictures for good measure.

September

Opa had taken Spencer and his older cousins fishing so Kade and his cousin were on him about taking them fishing. For about a week they'd each wake up asking "Is Opa taking us fishing today?" He finally caved and took only them. Kade loved it.

And then Opa took us all our to the sturgeon pond to fish for a day! It was so cool and there were some BIG fish, I however spent most of the day following little boys around so they didn't try to jump into the water so didn't get a picture of any of the big fish. It was a cool place and we'd love to go back!

We had a big storm one evening that blew a panel of our fence over! Nate and boys had a fun few days rebuilding the fence and I was happy to finally have a gate on that side of the house!

Kade started preschool at Miss Cherry's and is in heaven getting to carpool and go to school with his BFF Sawyer!

We watched Spencer play soccer every Saturday! Nate had told him if he scored a goal he'd buy him a milkshake. Well one Saturday that Nate was hunting he told me he'd rather have Chick-fil-a. He scored a goal, looked right at me and said, "You owe me Chick-fil-a!"

Spencer also had his first in person school day!! He was only going to school twice a week but it was so nice while it lasted. He really needs the structure and the social interactions that school provides. Who would have guessed we'd ever be dealing with public school learning not happening in person?!

I took the boys to the zoo before the weather turned too cold. It was a bit ridiculous, with their COVID maze but it was almost completely empty so we enjoyed having it to ourselves mostly!

Other random pictures from September:

Nate and I got to have dinner at Lucky Fins without kids. We obviously enjoyed that.

a giant skeleton at Home Depot

Cute Spencer with his eye patch he hates.

Picking pumpkins from Oma & Opa's garden.

check out the height of that spike!

August

The last weekend of July/first weekend of August our ward had a campout up near Cascade and we were there for it! Nate and the boys slept in a small tent and Garrett and I slept in the back of the van one night and in another tent the next night. Highlights included playing in the creek catching snakes, heading up to Lake Cascade for an afternoon and visiting the closest reservoir that was FULL of baby frogs!

The boys did LOTS of fishing with Opa and Nate. They went out to Paddock reservoir a few times and up to Lucky Peak a bunch and even Kleiner park.

Nate's little brother and family came up for a weekend and it was so fun to get to see cousins! Nate and Aaron hiked Mt. Borah with Heaton and my dad even went part way. They loved it! Nate's all on board to get me to do it with him. It was a beautiful day for it and they both even got sunburned.

We spent a day at the lake on Opa's boat! The boys love the tube and digging in the sand and I love watching them play and eating all the snacks from the beach :)

Spencer started 1st grade...virtually! Man, this school year has been ROUGH! We both cried the first week, more than once. Spencer is a champ and fought through it and...here's hoping next year isn't a repeat of this year.

Other highlights:

We cut the rattail

Opa bought a new 4-wheeler

Nate didn't shave for like 6 weeks and also got to go hunting/scouting.

Spencer got a new glasses rx and onto his 6th pair of glasses in 8 months...
